Today we welcome nearly 100 new Professional and Clerical workers from Bon Secours Community Hospital into the 1199SEIU family. They will join their service worker colleagues at the hospital who have already negotiated some of the best pay and benefits in New York State.
Union County Sheriff and state Senator-elect Joe Cryan came out in support of workers at the AristaCare at Delaire Nursing Home in Linden this week as they held an afternoon prayer vigil urging the owners to restore benefits and settle a fair contract. AristaCare slashed benefits when they bought the facility this summer.
This week, 40 more Northern New York healthcare workers, Home Health Aides (HHAs) at Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown, voted to assert their collective strength and become members of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. They are now united with LPNs, CNAs and resident care assistants at Samaritan, who all voted this fall to join the largest healthcare workers union in the country.
